Community Ed can help us all

The St. Charles Parish school system is remarkable in many ways, and one of those ways is with our Community Education program in which all of our citizens can get education in many subjects.

They are not fulltime courses, but they educate us in matters that can help spread our education in different directions. Those directions can give us knowledge on subjects that can help us greatly in our everyday life.

For example, we can get information that could help in our business efforts such as tax strategies, computer training and auditing finances. We can also get help to improve our everyday housekeeping chores by learning how to make healthy foods, solve behavior problems with children and keep them safe.

It can help us improve on our estate planning, which can aid us in later life. It can allow us to tackle skills that can provide us with a better quality of life. Many types of exercise classes are available, which can provide a healthier life for us. Gardening classes will teach us to grow homegrown greens and herbs that can give us nutritious fresh vegetables while we enjoy the magic of creating them in or own back yards.

If you want to let people know how you cook the food you grow or buy, you can publish a cookbook and let others know how you do it. There are also many other talents local residents have that can be taught to those in our community.

The classes begin March 10 and deadline for an early registration with a reduced tuition is Feb. 14 with final registration on Feb. 28. Information on registration by mail, email, fax, drop box and walk in can be obtained by calling (985)785-3146.

Community Education is an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge in subjects important to many that can improve incomes and make life a lot more fulfilling.

We should take advantage of it.
