Big property auction will benefit parish

Saturday, May 5, should offer many possibilities for anyone who wants to own property in St. Charles. On that day, the parish will auction off more than 300 parcels of land to the highest bidders, regardless of what the amount offered may be.

Some of the properties are wetlands north of Airline Highway, but many are good for commercial or residential use.

The sales will benefit the parish because they will put the parcels of land on the tax roll, bringing more money into the public coffers.

They will also relieve the parish of liability from any accident that may cause injury or damage to other person’s property.

And besides, the property is doing the parish no good at present but could benefit private owners by putting them to commercial or residential use.

The sale will be held at Destrehan High School auditorium. All properties to be offered are free of liens.

And get this: No minimum bid is required for purchase, so everyone has a chance – a real chance – to bid, win … and go home owning a nice piece of real estate.

Check out overhead satellite pictures of each property at www.gilmoreauction.com. It may be time well spent.
