Teaching the value of life amidst so much terror and violence in our lives will suffer a setback if the abortion clinic scheduled to be built on South Claiborne Avenue in New Orleans is realized. Construction is scheduled to begin this week on the 7,000-square-foot building.
Hundreds of human lives could be lost each year in such a project. Planned Parenthood, which plans to build the structure, reportedly provided more than 300,000 life-killing abortions last year.
When conception occurs, an egg is fertilized in the ovary and it becomes a human being that can live on as an embryo, child, adult and senior citizen. It is all one continuous life span.
When we destroy an embryo, we are killing a human life as much as if we kill an adult. And that is what happens in abortion.
Archbishop Gregory Aymond of New Orleans said this week that “A Planned Parenthood abortion facility will take us further away from the peaceful future New Orleans needs. Violence is violence, whether on our streets or in the womb.”
Since being legalized, abortions have become quite common around the world. And in China, the government even requires that couples cannot have more than one child. In other words, they must have abortions instead.
If we want to be on the right side of things, we must welcome new births. If there is some reason why we cannot accommodate them, we must adopt them out. There are plenty of people out there who would welcome them.
There is a lot of space on this earth for those human beings we are putting to death in abortions. And we’re sure our futuristic plans will allow accommodations on other planets.
So let’s try to get the gavel away from the abortion planners and make this world a friendly place for human beings from conception on up. In other words, let us do unto others as we would have them do unto ourselves.
