Ursin Louis Roux

Ursin Louis Roux passed from this life on February 1, 2019.  Born July 3, 1948, he was preceded in death by his parents Amy Zeringue Roux and Delmire Andrew Roux and his stepson Larry Pertuit, Jr.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Mollie Sampey Roux and his mother-in-law Hilda Sampey, stepdaughter Ronny Torres, grandchildren Cody Torres (Paige), Kylie Torres (Datren Williams), Michala Torres and Brianna Pertuit and great grandchildren Kenley Morvant, Dakota Williams and Samuel Torres as well as his brother Jeffrey A. Roux (Jara) and sisters Retta Loupe (Russell) and Regina Matherne (Frank Matherne, deceased) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ursin was a kind and loving person, meeting friends wherever he went.  He would help anyone but never wanted to ask for help for himself with the numerous projects that he pursued. He could figure out how to do anything, whether building or requiring computer skills. He worked at Avondale Shipyards for 45 years and retired as the steel expediter.  He loved to travel on extended vacations with Mollie and enjoyed the detailed planning of his trips as much as the trips themselves. He was always ready to help Mollie with any garden projects. He adored and assisted all his step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was close to his brothers and sisters.  He was especially kind and helpful to his parents. His little dog, Riley, could never bear to leave his side and you had to get permission from Riley before you could give Ursin a kiss.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at St. Joseph’s Carpenter House for their care and the nurses who took care of Ursin at his home.

May he rest in well-deserved peace.
