Steven David Templet Sr.

Steven David Templet Sr. passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the age of 77.

He was the beloved husband of Barbara Simoneaux Templet for over 56 years. He was the loving father of Tamera Landry (Mark), Stephanie Candies (Oliver Hebert), and Steven Templet Jr. (Stephanie). Grandfather of Amanda Jones (Patrick), Matthew Landry, Devin Candies, Austin Templet, Mason Candies, and Dani Templet, as well as great grandfather of Amelie Jones. Son of the late Harry Templet and Anne Guillot Templet. Brother of Virgie Marretta, Michael Templet, Margaret Cardinal, and Henry Templet, as well as the late Harriet Landry and Patricia Catrou.

He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was very involved in the Church his entire life, and it was through church that he met his bride to be. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy. They moved to Luling in 1966 for employment, and has been an active part of the community ever since. He retired from Occidental Petroleum after over 32 years of service. He was active at St. Anthony Catholic Church and then Holy Family Catholic Church, and often volunteered his time and talents to help his parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #2409. He was also active in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program to help his community. His kind, giving heart and his sense of humor is what he will always be remembered for.

His family would like to send our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Medical Staff of East Jefferson General Hospital and St Theresa Specialty Hospital for their kindness and merciful care. We would also like to thank Father Stephen Dardis for his spiritual support.

A Memorial Mass was celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church in Luling on July 21.

Interment was held at St. Charles Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, masses at Holy Family Catholic Church or donations to the American Heart Association (Heart.org).
