Loraine Herring Post

Loraine Herring Post passed peacefully from this life at her home in Luling on Nov. 24, after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness.

She was born in Smackover, Ark. on July 9, 1931 to the union of Davis and Effie Nash Herring. Her childhood and early adulthood were spent in El Dorado, and she never lost her love of her hometown. Post was married to Gerald Post on July 21, 1950, and a few years later they relocated to Luling, where she spent the remainder of her life.

Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church in Luling on Wednesday, Nov. 28 with grandson Ryan Post officiating, assisted by Pastor Gary Keene. Visitation immediately preceded the service, under the direction of Falgout Funeral Home.

On Thursday, Nov. 29, a grave side service will be held at Canaan Baptist Church cemetery in Spearsville at 2 p.m. under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.

Post was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Margie Cargile, one brother, Arnold Herring and a great-granddaughter, Destiny Millien. Left to treasure their memories of her love, loyalty and guidance are her children, Randy Post and wife Claire, of Spearsville, Paula Post Lowry and husband James, of Destrehan, Frank Post and wife Donna, of Luling and Alison Post Johnson and husband Rick, of Thibodaux. She was the beloved grandmother of Ashley Dison and husband Mark, Brad Johnson and wife Christina, Miranda Johnson and husband Ray, Sondra McGlocklin and husband Jared, Ryan Post and wife Carrie, Justin Post and wife Julie, Bruce Lowry and wife Kris, Laura Home and husband Bill, Eric Lowry, Darrin Post and wife Meghan and Bridget Acosta and husband Todd. Post had seventeen great-grandchildren, with two more expected to arrive soon. Additionally, she is survived and loved by a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Every one of her descendants and friends received a warm welcome in her home and truly felt that they were important to her.

Serving as pallbearers were Justin and Darrin Post, James, Bruce and Eric Lowry, Chase Millien, Rick Johnson and Kenny Cargile. Honorary pallbearer is Brad Johnson.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of Hospice Compassus and sitters Bambi Mathes, Rene’ Markey, Tara Messina, Gina Soriano and Leah Guidry for their faithful and compassionate care during our time of need. Sincere thanks also go out to First Baptist Church of Luling, Canaan Baptist Church and Antioch Church of Christ of Spearsville as well as to all of the friends who have supported us in prayer and encouragement during this time.
