Donald Raymond Planchard was born in New Orleans on May 18, 1940 and died on Nov. 27 surrounded by loving family after losing his fight against pancreatic cancer.
He was the beloved husband of Margaret Crisham Planchard for the past 48 years and the father of Kim Marie, Kenneth Patrick, Cindy Ann and Cathy Elizabeth Planchard.
He is the father-in-law of Melinda Meyer Planchard and Joseph Lauer. Don is also remembered by two grandchildren, Peyton Elizabeth and Brandon Patrick. Other survivors include McKenzie Lauer and Alexa Lauer, as well as Don’s brother, Richard J. Planchard. Don had a gentle spirit, love of nature and sports and cherished time with family and close friends.
He worked at Whitney National Bank in New Orleans as a financial advisor before retiring to Scottsdale, Ariz. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Luling. Don was active in his church as a minister of pastoral care and served his country in the U.S. Army.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Scottsdale on Dec. 4.
