Jesse Denton, Sr.

Jesse L. “Josh” Denton, Sr. of Destrehan “New Sarpy.” A native of Calhoun County, Mississipi, passed into eternal glory on Wednesday Feb. 28 at 8:00PM. Born Sept. 9, 1921, he was 85 years old. He leaves his wife of 66 ½ years, Virgina P. Denton; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Donald Clarke of Hammond. 2 sons and daughters-in-law; Jesse L. Denton, Jr. and Barbra of Ducala, GA and Thomas H. Denton and Diane of Baton Rouge; 7 grandchildren; Sherry G. Dickens of Waxahchie, TX. Kim B. Hendrix of Tueplo, MS. 1 sister, Jane LaBorne of Morgan City and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a preceded by his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Hammond Denton; and 1 brother Elliss H. Denton of Slate Springs, MS. He was a U.S. Army WWII Veterans, a mason of over 50 years. He retired from T.L. James Co., Inc. and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kenner. He was in the care of Cannon Hospice for the past year. Thanks to them for his good care. A special thanks to family and friends and Cannon Hospice- Dr. Persige, Sandy, Tennecia, Kim and Crissy.

A visitation was held on Saturday, March 3 from 5:00 until Religious Services at 7:00 PM at Alexander Funeral Home in Norco. A visitation was held on Sunday March 4 from 2:00pm until Graveside Services at 3:00pm at Bethany Baptist Church and Cemetery in Slate Springs, MS. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis TX 38105 and Baptist Children’s’ Home, P.O. Box 4196 Monroe 71211.

Gary Bourg

Gary P. Bourg passed away on Monday March 5 at Luling. Beloved husband of Catherine Fields Bourg and the late Judy T. Bourg by first marriage. Father of Gary J. Bourg Terri B. Hiltibidal and Gaynell B Landeche. Step- father of Michael Gassen, Cynthia Street, Nellie Matherne and Phyllis Ferraro. Son of the late Gaston and Clara Faucheaux Bourg. Brother of Terry Bourg, Sybill Dufrene and the late Betty Gourgues and Marilyn Dimarco. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 1 great grand child, 4 step great grandchildren. Preceded in death by one greath grandchild. A native of Hahnville and a resident in Luling. Age 66 years. He was a parishoner of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He sang in the church choir.

Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Luling on Thursday, March 8 at 11:00 AM. Interment St. Charles Cemetery, Luling. Visitation from 9:00 AM until funeral time Thursday at the church. Falgout Funeral Homes in charge.

Andrew Johnson

Andrew C. “Hoss” Johnson III, 46 of Des Allemands, passed away on Feb. 24. He is the son of Andrew C. Johnson Jr. and the late Evelyn Plummer Johnson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby C. Lester. He is survived by his father, Andrew C. Johnson Jr. and a brother, Richard L. Johnson, both of Des Allemands. He is also surved by two daughters, Blair Champange of Paradis and Amanda Champange of Breaux Bridge and four grandchildren. The family has asked in lieu of flowers to please make a donation to the charity of your choice.

Murphy Robert

Murphy J. Robert on Monday, March 12, 2007 at 6:07 p.m. in Luling. Beloved husband of Marjory Robert and the late Luana Price Robert by first marriage. Step father of Kippy Robert, Sr., Jimmy Robert, Jr. and Angel Haydel. Grandfather of Kippy Robert Jr. and Mariah Haydel. Son of the late Jean Baptiste Robert and Ida Zellar Robert. Brother of Newton Robert, Rena Gassen, Mary Robert and the late John B. Robert, Jr., Stuart Robert, Rita Bromley and Stella Petit. Uncle of Donna Lombardo and a host of nieces and nephews. A native of Ama and a resident of Luling. Age 82 years. He was a WWII Air Force Veteran serving in the 456th Bomb Group (H), 15th Air Force engaged in Cerignola, Italy from 1944 to 1945. He was a member of VFW Post 3750 and American Legion Post 131. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark Catholic Church in Ama on Friday, March 16 at 11 a.m. Interment St. Charles Cemetery, Luling. Visitation from 8:30 a.m. until funeral time Friday at St. Mark Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, masses preferred.
