Robert “Penook” Matherne, 66, a native and resident of Des Allemands, passed away on Monday, Nov. 3.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Gertrude Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his son, Ross Daniel Matherne; daughter, Jenny Matherne Lacoste and sister, Berdine “Dee” Cortez.He was preceded in death by his parents, Aurillian and Drisscilla Danos Matherne; brother, Raymond Matherne and sisters, Thelma Matherne and Eugenia Usey.
Falgout Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
