Vanton LaRousse Sr.

Vanton LaRousse Sr., 91, a native of Gheens and resident of Des Allemands, passed away on July 23.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, at Des Allemands Mennonite Church. Religious services will be at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in Holy Savior Cemetery, Lockport.

LaRousse is survived by his former wives, Kathy Dunn Folse and Lyndia Powell Cornwell; sons, Vanton LaRousse Jr. (Laura) and Jason LaRousse (Fara); daughters, Nellie Dempster, Dianne Crochet (Roy), Janet LaRousse (Travis) and Anita LaRousse; brother, Nilton LaRousse; sister, Rita Delatte; 20 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Louisiana LaRousse; sons, Donald and Burk LaRousse; son-in-law, Adlis Dempster Sr.; eight brothers; two sisters; a grandchild and a great grandchild.

LaRousse was a member of American Legion Post 316 of Des Allemands. He was also campaign manager for St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne.
