Henry J Deist passed away Feb. 3, 2020 at Ochsner Hospital surrounded by his family.
Henry was born in New Orleans and attended Warren Easton High School. He is survived by his wife of 34 years Louise Leonard Deist; sons: Christopher (Katherine) Joseph (Rebecca) Philip (Nicole) and grandchildren: Delaney Louise, Selena Louise, Brianba Nicole and Brayden Michael. He will also be missed by their fur babies: Gizzie, Pearl, MoGeaux, Khloe, Huck, Zoe and Maggie.
He was a truck driver most of his life.
He so enjoyed the years spent as a volunteer firefighter which started in 1998 with Paradis VFD, Des Allemands VFD and Bayou Gauche VFD. He was also an instructor in the Academy for two graduating classes., He was most proud of the junior program he helped start in Paradis that would spread among the other departments. He felt teaching young kids was important to the future of the volunteer program.
