Gerald Felix “Jake” Brady

Gerald Felix “Jake” Brady passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at the age of 94. He was born in Hahnville, LA and was a resident of Luling, LA.

He is survived by his sisters Katherine Caire and Carol Caillet; his children Patricia, Jane, John, and Monica; one grandchild Lakin; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. His best friend was Leon “Sunny” Vial. They met at age 5 and shared life and laughs for 89 years.

Jake inspired many by living an active life until the age of 93 taking daily morning walks in Luling at Westbank Bridge Park and on the levee. He was a gifted mechanic who could fix any appliance or engine. He was known to end phone calls with “We love you,” and towards the end was whispering “I love you.”

Preceded in death by his beloved wife Janella Peyregne Brady and his parents Felix Benjamin Brady and Mabel Harkins Brady. Jake was a native of Hahnville, LA and lived in LaPlace, LA the latter part of his life. After Hurricane Katrina, he and Janella moved to Lutcher, LA. After graduating from Holy Cross High School, he earned a BS Degree at Southwest Louisiana Institute and honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. In 1988, he retired from Shell Chemicals in Norco, LA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 234 Angus Dr., Luling, LA. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Immediately after mass are military honors and gathering at VFW Post 3750 until 1:00 p.m. Private inurnment in St. Charles Cemetery’s Holy Savior Mausoleum at a later date. Masses preferred in lieu of flowers.
