George Joseph Rivere

George Joseph Rivere was called to Heaven on Friday, July 7, 2023 at age 67.  He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Laurie Chauffe Rivere.  Adoring and devoted father of Kelli Oertling (Kenneth), and the proud grandfather of Macy Oertling and Avery Oertling.  He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Rivere, Linda Rivere, and Beverly Nunez, and a host of nieces and nephews.  George is preceded in death by his parents, the late Joseph Rivere, Sr. and Carrie Rivere; his father-in-law, Gordon Chauffe; his mother-in-law, Beverly Chauffe; his sisters, the late Carrie Ann Thomassie, Doris Barattini, and Patricia Lanaiche; and his brothers, Joseph Rivere, Jr., Kenneth Rivere, and Lloyd Rivere.

George was a Westwego, LA native, and a longtime resident of the Westbank, most recently of Paradis, LA. He was a graduate of West Jefferson High School, Class of 1974, and later was a Westbank businessman, owning and operating, among other businesses, Pro Style Flooring in Westwego. George was a former member of the Young Men’s Business Club in Westwego and the Rotary Club of Westwego. His greatest joy was spending time with his loving family and friends.  He was also a dedicated New Orleans Saints, LSU Tigers, and Cincinnati Reds fan.  His friendly, outgoing demeanor lit up any room.  He will be missed by all.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 15405 US-90 (corner LA-306) in Paradis, LA on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in St. Charles Cemetery Mausoleum in Luling, LA.

The family welcomes donations to St. Charles Public Schools Foundation as an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers.
