Gary P. Parks

Gary P. Parks was born January 30, 1941 and died June 10, 2026. He was the son of the late Ernest & Edna Parks. In his youth they farmed an area located between the town of Paradis and fishing village of Bayou Gauche, Louisiana. Gary and his older brother Terry, were the last of the family order consisting of deceased siblings Velma Dufrene, Wilmer, Venis, Ethel Savoie, and Raymond.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Glenda, son Michael, and grandsons Aaron and Brady Parks, many nieces & nephews, cousins, in-laws, and his honorary granddaughters Jordan Jamieson and Jaci Tortorella.

He attended the Paradis Elementary School 1st through 4th grades attaining a great educational start, with thanks to beloved teachers Peyregne, Roberts, Amaca, and Hebert. After graduating from Hahnville High School in 1959, he also earned a BS in Mathematics from Southeastern Louisiana College and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from LSU.

His career in the chemical industry included Rubicon, Albermarle, retiring from Novartis Agricultural Chemical. He was an LSU area property owner and Condo Association Consultant and Manager.

He loved old boats, old cars, but most of all old friends and new.

An avid volunteer and community activist, he was also a member of the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge for over 40 years. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2 p.m., at the Church at 8470 Goodwood Boulevard.
