Alvin J. Dufrene Sr.

Alvin J. Dufrene Sr., 77, a native and resident of Paradis passed away on Nov. 9.Dufrene is survived by his wife, Janice Horn Dufrene; daughter, Kim-Alice Frickey (Dale); sons, Alvin J. Dufrene Jr. (Jill), Terry J. Dufrene (Tanya), Kerry Dufrene (Nicole); sister, Dolores Kilchrist; 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Sr. and Bernadette Detillier Dufrene; brother, Ernest “Bugs” Dufrene Jr.; sisters, Helen Whittington, Myrtle Naquin and a grandchild.

Dufrene was an active parishioner, usher and groundskeeper at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was a Boy Scout Leader, Paradis Fire Chief, member of the Ham Radio Club of Thibodaux and he volunteered for the Red Cross. He was also a recreational football coach of the Ama Tigers.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov. 12 with burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Raceland, La.
