Dolena “Doll” Annette Matherne Robert, a native of Des Allemands, and resident of Ama, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, January 6th, 2022 at the age of 87. Doll was born April 6th, 1934 to the late Cyril Oliver Matherne and Euphrazie Dufrene Matherne. Loving wife of the late Newton “Pap” Joseph Robert, Sr. for 58 years before he passed away in 2013. Devoted mother of Carmen R. LeBlanc (Chris), Dale R. Williams (Rick), Melanie R. Callender (Mike), Tammy R. Cantrelle (Carl), Newton J. Robert, Jr., and Rocky J. Robert (Tiffany). Doll was the grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren with one great grandchild on the way. Sister of Gloria M. Wilson (the late Robert), Cyril O. Matherne, Jr. (Harriet), Glenn M. Matherne, Sr. (Sheila), and the late Harry E. Matherne, Lee C. Matherne, Ena Deane Stringer, Patricia M. Friloux, Cathlyn M. Rome Oubre, Carrel Matherne, and Ray Matherne. Daughter in law of the late Jean Baptiste Robert, Sr. and Ida Zeller Robert. Doll is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who are left to cherish her memory.
Doll grew up in Des Allemands, Louisiana but spent most of her life on the River Road of Ama, Louisiana. She was a devoted mother of six children. Her life was dedicated to raising her family and helping her children raise her grandchildren. Doll had many hobbies that included sewing, costume making, dressing dolls, building miniature rooms and houses, and taxiing her family to and from their many events and functions. She also served as a caregiver for many of her family members. She will be remembered as a wonderful woman who cherished her family and cared for them endlessly.

A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Friday, January 14th, 2022 at St. Mark Catholic Church, 10771 River Road in Ama, Louisiana. A visitation will begin at 9:00AM and continue until the Mass begins. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Charles Cemetery in Luling, Louisiana.
