Melien J. Dempster, Sr., passed away on Monday, March 23. Beloved husband of Elvie Gassen Dempster of Luling.
Father of Melien “T-Boy” Dempster, Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Luling and Susan Dempster Martinez and her husband Danny of Raceland. Grandfather of Celeste Dempster Barrios, Quinn Dempster, Jake Dempster, Romilee Cortez Broussard and Edgar Cortez, Jr.
Also survived by five great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. Son of the late Felicien and Clara Plaisance Dempster. Brother of Mitchell, Simon, Landry, Nolan Dempster, Ethel Sposito, Doris Trahan, Dolores Chiasson and the late John Dempster, Dennis Dempster, Velma Cortez and Thelma Tregre. A native of Des Allemands and a resident of Luling since 1951. Hobbies were hunting, fishing and cooking.
He retired from Avondale Shipyard with 38 years service. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Luling on Friday, March 27 at 11 a.m. Interment Holy Rosary Cemetery, Taft.
Visitation from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 26 at Falgout Funeral Homes, 3838 Highway 1, Raceland and from 9 a.m. to funeral time on Friday, March 27 at the church. Falgout Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.
