Connelly Joseph Rhodes

On the morning of Dec. 1, 2018, while living life and doing what he loved (going hunting and fishing with friends at his camp in Dulac, La.), the Good Lord called home one of the greatest souls He put on this earth, Connelly Joseph Rhodes.

Connelly graduated from Destrehan High School in 2017.  Connelly was currently attending River Parish Community College to obtain a degree in process technology. Connelly was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, boating, shooting, family, friends and everything about life.  Everyday he lived it to the fullest. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do with his hands and had a very creative mind.  Quick witted, beautiful smile, bright blue eyes and a personality that you couldn’t help but love from the word “Hello.”

Connelly loved to cook what ever was the freshest wild game for his friends while preparing for a night filled with a campfire, fun and games.  Hard working and mechanically inclined, he was that guy you called on when you needed a hand or something broke that you needed fixed.  He loved spending time with his friends.  I never knew another man who would abandon any plan, make a U-turn, be ready and at his friend’s door step in 30 minutes to do something outdoors or help a friend in need. Connelly loved the game of baseball. He was always level headed and fundamentally sound.

Like everything else in life, he stepped up to the plate with confidence, always up for a challenge and kept his head up high even when he would strike out.  Although Connelly stopped playing baseball early in high school, so that he could follow his true passion of spending time with his family hunting and fishing, Connelly never missed an opportunity to play with and teach his younger brothers and cousin the game of baseball.  Love, Respect, Dependability, Smart, Family, Friends, Heart: those are the things that made it a Blessing to have this young man a part of anyone’s life.  As his parents, we could not have been prouder. All I could ask for is more time with this young man. We love you and will miss you.

Connelly was born on Nov. 22, 1998.  He leaves behind his loving parents Earl and Larmel Rhodes, brothers Nathan and John, grandparents Larry and Bermel Doyle, Barbara and Tommy Jackson, and Raymond and Teri Rhodes, great-grandparents Melrose Kathmann, Geraldine Rhodes, Evelyn and Bill Howard, Aunts and Uncles Lara (Jude) Meyers, Larissa Doyle, Raymond (Stephanie) Rhodes, Jean Ann (James) Perry, Greg (Michelle) Rhodes, Samantha (Grant) Rhodes, Melissa Mosser and Rory and Jessica Miller, Extended family David, Mary and Deanne Lamartiniere, and Connelly’s girlfriend Mia Tabora. Preceded in death by great grandparents Rose and Henry Doyle, Bernard Kathmann, Earl Rhodes and Joseph Morales.  He also leaves behind loving great aunts and uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends who were brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, moms and dads at heart.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner on Saturday (Dec. 8) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m.  To view or sign the online guest book, please visit www.muhleisen.com
