Woman stabbed in neck at St. Rose party

Memphis suspect charged with attempted murder

A Memphis, Tenn. woman has been arrested for attempted murder after stabbing another woman in the neck at a St. Rose party, which caused a minor loss of sensation to the right side of the victim’s body.

Several witnesses told St. Charles Parish sheriff’s deputies that 28-year-old Alexis Chyine got into an argument with residents attending a birthday party on an empty lot north of 153 First Street. Chyine eventually went into the trunk of her car to retrieve a knife and began walking towards the group.

The victim, 48-year-old Melicha Armstrong, attempted to diffuse the situation by asking Chyine to leave. However, witnesses say that Chyine told her “if you want me to leave, you going to have to make me.”

Chyine then stabbed Armstrong in the neck.

After the attack, Chyine ran north on First Street while Armstrong was brought to East Jefferson Hospital by someone at the party.

Chyine was apprehended by officers shortly after the attack.
