Woman robbed leaving festival

On Saturday, Sept. 26, a Luling woman was robbed at knife-point on River Road as she was leaving the Alligator Festival at around 7 p.m.

The 31-year-old woman, who called police after she arrived home, said that she was leaving the festival when a black male wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and denim jeans approached her as she was walking to her car on River Road.

According to Sheriff’s Office documents, the woman was approached by a man who flashed a knife with a 3-inch blade at her and said, “Give me the money or I will jig you.”

The woman told sheriff’s deputies that she gave the man the $50 she had in her pocket. The robber then fled on foot back towards the festival.

The woman then drove to her home and called 911 to report the incident, telling the operator that she probably couldn’t identify the suspect if she saw him again.

The suspect, who is wanted for armed robbery, is approximately 5’8” and weighs about 180 pounds. Supervisors searched the festival grounds, but could not locate anyone matching that description.

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with any information should contact 985-783-1355.
