Authorities are searching for two men who robbed a Boutte Popeyes’ employee at gunpoint and then allegedly fired gunshots at a vehicle leaving the Wendy’s parking lot across the street.
They are hoping that a video showing the crime will help lead to the arrests of both robbers. The video can be seen at www.heraldguide.com.
On Sept. 27 at 11:18 p.m. two black men emerged from behind a garbage dumpster and robbed a female employee who was in the process of closing Popeyes. The video shows the two men, who have their faces covered, running at the employee and force her to flee back inside the store.
The key to the fast food restaurant’s door was outside, however, and the men used it to get into Popeyes. One of the men can clearly be seen holding a gun.
After going into Popeyes, the robbers forced the employee back outside into her car where she hands over money from the restaurant. The robbers then take the visibly shaken victim’s cell phone and car keys before running off across the street to Wendy’s.
Though this is where the video ends, Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, spokesman for the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, said one of the robbers fired gunshots at a vehicle leaving the parking lot at Wendy’s.
Authorities are asking that anyone who may be able to identify the two robbers involved, or who has any information about the case, contact the Sheriff’s Office at (985) 783-6807 or call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
