United Way has largest campaign in history

Shell Norco Manufacturing Complex with awards as top company that raised funds for United Way this year.

Shell Norco Manufacturing Complex topped the list of United Way of St. Charles contributors for donations and helped drive the organization’s funds raised to an all-time high of $3.37 million.

Shell also received UW’s spirit award for best overall UW campaign with $1.15 million raised.

Valero St. Charles Refinery, which ranked first last year, ranked second this year at $1.1 million followed by Dow St. Charles Operations, $454,195; Monsanto, $134,999; St. Charles Parish Public Schools, $97,947 and OxyChem, $75,435.

Entergy Waterford 3 ranked seventh as a contributor at $74,160 followed by Zachry Group, $58,578; Cornerstone Chemical Co., $45,091, and St. Charles Parish Government at $24,000.

Campaign achievement awards for recognizing campaigning improvements in education went to the Public Maintenance Department, Luling Elementary School, Harry Hurst Middle School, Carver Early Learning Center, R.J. Vial Elementary School, Mimosa Park Elementary School, St. Rose Elementary School and Norco Elementary School.

Achievement awards to non-industry included First National Bank USA, St. Charles Community Health Center and AM/PM Staffing Services.

In industry, achievement awards went to Rain CII Carbon, Shell Norco Manufacturing Complex, Dow St. Charles Operations and Valero St. Charles Refinery.

Community Leadership award (highest employee per capita giving) in education went to the School System’s Satellite Center and Central Office, Landry Alternative School, Norco Elementary School, and R.K. Smith and Harry Hurst middle schools.

Non-industry recipients of the award include United Way of St. Charles, First National Bank USA, St. Charles Community Health Center and Beaed of Louisiana.

Industry recipients include Valero St. Charles Refinery, Shell Norco Manufacturing Complex and Rain CII Carbon.

UW’s Corporate Leadership Award (greatest corporate gift per employee) went to Valero St. Charles Refinery, Shell Norco Manufacturing Complex and Rain CII Carbon.

The Good Neighbor Award (most employees giving $500 or more) went to St. Charles Parish Public Schools, Valero St. Charles Refinery, Shell Norco Manufacturing Complex, and Dow St. Charles Operation.

The United Way of St. Charles has exceeded the previous year’s fundraising total – again.

Reaching $3.37 million this year, the nonprofit organization has steadily shown year-over-year increases in fundraising aided by its 2017-18 co-chairs Johnny Chavez Jr. of Dow St. Charles Operations, Jodie Doucet of Beaed of Louisiana, Angela Golden of Child Advocacy Services and Brett Woltjen of the Shell Norco Manufacturing Complex.
