Two teenage Destrehan residents were arrested Sunday night in relation to the burglary of a Louisiana State Trooper’s home last week in Destrehan. Dillyn Austin, 18, of 1952 Ormond Boulevard in Destrehan, was charged with simple burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. A 14-year-old male juvenile from Destrehan was also arrested and charged with simple burglary, possession of a firearm by a juvenile and obstruction of justice. The latter’s identity was withheld by the Sheriff’s Office because of his age.
Multiple firearms were among the several items reportedly stolen from the trooper’s River Point Drive home. Among the other items missing were a PlayStation 4, two small safes, a Super Bowl XLVII State Police badge, a 50-year Commemorative State Police badge, money, two iPhones and assorted collectible coins that included a F15 Air Force Anniversary coin and a Lady Liberty coin.
Some of the property has been recovered, but none of the firearms.
