A tugboat struck the Hale-Boggs Bridge on Sunday, March 15, at 1:30 a.m.
Parish Director of Communications Samantha de Castro said no lives were lost and no hazardous materials were released into the river.
The bridge is open for travel. De Castro said the U.S. Coast Guard, who was immediately on the scene, reported no immediate damages to the bridge and The Department of Transportation did an inspection of the bridge at sun-up.
The Coast Guard reported that two out of 29 barges carrying grain have sunk.
