Trash Bash program gets $10,000 grant

ST. CHARLES PARISH – A $10,000 grant through the Keep Louisiana Beautiful 2010 Community Grant Program is helping fund the upcoming Trash Bash Great American Cleanup Event on March 27. The public is invited.

Keep Louisiana Beautiful awarded a total of $200,000 to 22 agencies throughout Louisiana, including St. Charles Parish, for the purpose of combating litter in their communities. A grant review panel made the final decision on all awards based on a numerical point rating system.

The Trash Bash will begin at 8:30 a.m. with volunteers fanning out across the parish to pick up litter in identified litter hot spots.  The culminating celebration for the event will kick off at 11:30 a.m. at the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling.

The event will be complete with free food and drinks, musical entertainment, games for children, giveaways and small prizes. Various businesses and agencies will host informational booths with educational materials, demonstrations and giveaways.

This event will receive national recognition by Keep America Beautiful due to Dow corporate headquarters’ affiliation with KAB and the participation of the Dow Taft plant’s volunteers in the event.
