Tommy Faucheux out, Steve Sirmon in as parish’s information officer

St. Charles Parish President Albert Laque has appointed Steve Sirmon,Jr. as the new Public Information Officer for the parish effective June 11, 2007.

Sirmon, a Luling resident and Hahnville High School graduate, attended Louisiana Tech University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2003.

Sirmon has been employed by the parish since June 2004 as a communications officer in the Department of Emergency Preparedness.

Sirmon replaces Tommy Faucheux who worked from December 2005 until April 2007 with the parish and the school Board simultaneously’, being paid half his salary ( $17,000) by the parish and ($17,000) by the School Board.

Faucheux later took the public information officer position at the parish in April 2007 until June 1, with a salary of $55,000 per year. Faucheux resigned June 1, 2007. Dow Chemical in Luling offered Faucheux a position in the public relations department and accepted the position.

The Public Information Officer serves as the spokesperson for Parish Government providing information to the Public and the media, including the Government Information Channel on Cable Channel 6.
