Three shot, one killed in Hahnville shooting; police asking public for info

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance for information on a shooting that occurred Wednesday, July 27 around 6:00 P.M. in the 200 block of Hahn Street in Hahnville.  

Deputies were dispatched to the area around 6 P.M. based on the report of gunfire. When deputies arrived at the location, they located three male subjects with gunshot wounds. Deputies immediately began lifesaving measures but were unable to save a 20-year-old male from Hahnville who died at the scene as an apparent result of gunshot wounds.  

Two other male subjects, a 20-year-old and a 19-year-old were treated at the scene and transported to an area hospital. A fourth victim, a 16-year-old juvenile from Hahnville, was located in the 300 block of Sycamore Street in Hahnville. He was also treated at the scene and transported to a local area hospital. The deceased victim is identified as Jerome Cunningham, Jr, a 20-year-old male from Hahnville. Christian Marshall, a 20-year-old male from Hahnville, was wounded by gunfire and his condition has not been confirmed by medical staff. Kendell Williams, a 19-year-old male from Hahnville, was wounded by gunfire and is in stable condition. The 16-year-old juvenile, wounded by gunfire, is also in stable condition.  

This is an ongoing active investigation. Preliminary indications are that this shooting is part of a cycle of violence and retaliation as a result of a previous violent shooting incident this past weekend. Failure to provide relevant information could possibly result in more innocent victims being injured or killed.

“With the community’s help, we can bring this to an end. We will do everything we can to protect anyone who comes forward,” said St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne.
