Thieves strike Hahnville grocery store

Awards offered for information leading to arrests

In the early morning hours of June 11, thieves struck Birdie’s Express, on River Road in Hahnville. At 1:52 a.m., St. Charles Parish deputies responded to a call from the store’s owner stating that the store had been burglarized. A passing Birdie’s customer noticed one of the front windows was taken out and alerted the store’s owner. Upon entering the store, the owner discovered that several items were damaged. Display racks, the store’s cash register and the surveillance cameras were knocked down.

Several items were reported stolen including assorted cartons of cigarettes, a credit card machine, boxes of cigars, assorted cases of liquor and an undetermined amount if U.S. currency.

This incident is still under investigation. Anyone having any information should contact the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office at 985-783-6807 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-877-903-STOP. Citizens do not have to give their name nor testify and could receive up to $2,500. The owners of the business are also offering up to a $2,500 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) accused of committing this crime.
