Bryant Woods, 29, of 272 Vidal St. in Ama, was arrested Thursday morning after St. Charles Parish police secured a warrant signed by Judge Timothy Marcel. He has been charged with one count of second degree murder.

Ingram, 36 and also of Ama, was found inside of a crashed Mercedes-Benz sedan by police responding to a call related to the apparent shooting. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office. His vehicle crashed in a grassy area between Vidal St. and Triche St. in a shooting police say happened just prior to 9 p.m. and led to the crash Sunday night.

St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne noted this was the first murder in the parish in approximately eight months, the last occurring in November of 2019.

“While such a crime is uncommon, I am pleased that we have been able to make an arrest this quickly,” Champagne said, also noting the investigation is still ongoing. “I urge anyone who may have information regarding this murder to immediately contact us by calling 911. Our condolences and prayers go out to the family of the victim.”
