Storm leaves SCP dealing with outages, wastewater problems

Today’s violent storm hit St. Charles Parish residents with power outages and a parishwide alert to stop wastewater use until further notice.

Entergy reports 1,204 residents were still in the dark as of this afternoon, although the number has been decreasing as the electric company restores power to areas throughout the day.

Bayou Gauche and Paradis were particularly affected by outages, as well as Des Allemands.

Parish officials have also urged residents to discontinue wastewater usage if possible due to heavy rain and power outages, especially in the areas of Paradis and Bayou Gauche, until further notice.

This includes activities such as washing clothes, washing dishes and flushing.
