State police on search for potentially armed, dangerous man in New Orleans area

State police is on the lookout for a 17-year-old male considered to possibly be armed and dangerous and who detectives believe may be in the New Orleans area.

According to State Police spokeswoman Melissa Matey, Teondre Wright escaped from the Swanson Center for Youth in Monroe along with three others the morning on Jan. 2, though the three others have since been apprehended. Wright was being held in the Swanson Center for various charges, including carjacking and armed robbery.  Wright is still at large.

Matey said detectives are asking for the public’s assistance to locate Wright, and added anyone providing assistance and/or housing to Wright is in violation of state law and may be arrested and charged as an accessory after the fact.

Anyone with information related to the whereabouts of Wright may contact Louisiana State Police at (504) 471-2775 or the Office of Juvenile Justice Command Center at (318) 651-4890.  Crimestoppers is offering up to $5000 for information leading to Wright’s capture.  Callers do not have to give their name or testify to receive the cash reward.  Citizens with information should call the Crimestoppers Hotline at (504) 822-1111 or 1-877-903-STOP.
