An armed robber broke into VooDoo BBQ and Grill in St. Rose, hit a female employee on the head with a gun and locked her in a cooler before making off with cash, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The woman, who lives in New Orleans, was doing inventory at the restaurant and walked into the office, where she spotted a black man dressed in all black with a black ski mask. The woman told authorities that the robber struck her in the head with a gun and demanded that she open a safe.
The woman complied and put the money inside of a bag that the robber was holding. She told police that she was then locked inside a cooler, but that she was able to call the Sheriff’s Office from her cell phone.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Pat Yoes said that it appears the robber got into the restaurant through a back door that was propped open.
