St. Charles Parish Hospital has earned an ‘A’ Fall 2021 Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a designation that recognizes efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the United States.
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
“This Leapfrog ‘A’ rating can be attributed to the work ethic of our nurses, physicians and staff,” Keith Dacus, St. Charles Parish Hospital CEO, said. “They strive daily to provide high quality and safe care to our patients. This a tremendous achievement and I am proud of the hard work of St. Charles Parish Hospital employees who continue to demonstrate resilience during a tough year in the community as they serve our patients.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, and grades are updated twice annually.
“An ‘A’ Safety Grade is a tremendous achievement, of which this community should be extremely proud,” Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, said. “I thank the leadership and workforce of St. Charles Parish Hospital for its commitment to prioritizing patients and their safety, especially during these trying times.”
