Planning and Zoning details permits needed for home repairs

While all permit fees related to Hurricane Ida repairs have been waived, officials at the parish’s Department of Planning and Zoning would like to remind residents that permits are still needed and that they are available to assist residents through the recovery process.

Anyone making repairs to their home should contact the department at permits@stcharlesgov.net.

Permits are needed for work pertaining to a home’s roof, framing, A/C, electrical, gas, plumbing, accessory building, patio, demolition and registration of an RV if one will be occupied during home repairs.

Permits are not needed for work on flooring, gutting, fencing, drywall or on less than 10% of a roof’s shingles.
