New food truck sells boiled, live seafood

There’s a new food truck in town – one that promises delicious boiled seafood and live seafood options all served with south Louisiana hospitality.

Brock Dunn is the owner of Boot T’s Seafood, which opened this month. The operation is a family affair, with his cousin Brandi Dardar managing the truck.

“We would like to invite everyone to come meet our family,” Dardar said. “We’re family-oriented, and we want people to pull up and feel like they’re a part of our family … just like you’re pulling up to your family’s house for a meal.”

Dardar said that she, Dunn, and other family members started throwing around the idea in December of opening up the food truck.

“Right before Christmas we started talking about it,” she said. “Brock and his dad were doing catering jobs here and there and the idea came to us to get the truck so that they can expand and eventually get a restaurant. In January we started the process of opening the truck. We really tried to push and get open for the big crawfish weekend of Easter.”

Dardar said the truck will focus on offering live and boiled crabs, shrimp, and crawfish. Boiled sides and sauce will also be sold.

“The plan is to eventually open a restaurant in St. Charles Parish, but to keep the truck for catering,” she said. “Our first day open was Good Friday, and it was a good first day for us. We’re super excited … we’re ready. We’re taking the truck as a learning experience so we can expand to the restaurant.”

Boot T’s Seafood truck is located at 14252 Hwy 90 in Boutte. Dardar said operating hours are still being refined, but that the plan right now is that the truck will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m Thursday through Sunday.
