It’s (almost) Mardi Gras time in St. Charles Parish, and the Krewe of Lul and Krewe of Des Allemands parades are set to roll through local streets on Feb. 18 and 19.
The 46th Krewe of Lul Mardi Gras Parade is set for Feb. 18 at noon.
Beginning at Winnwood Shopping Center, the parade route will turn onto Paul Maillard Road, take a right onto River Road, a right onto Sugarhouse Road, another right onto Angus Road and circle back to the same shopping center. Feb. 8 is the final date for parade registration and payment.
Krewe of Lul parade organizer Debbie Dufresne Vial said this year’s parade is dedicated in memory of Charles “Chuck” Oubre III.
“Charles served as a Krewe of Lul Captain for many years and organized and road with HBA annually in the parade,” she said.

The Krewe of Des Allemands will take to the streets Feb. 19 at 1 p.m.
Mitzi Petit, who helps organize the parade, said the route of this parade is the same as last year – with line up on the old road between Wenger Road and Lorraine Drive.
“The response has been good so far,” she said. “It looks like we will have quite a few new faces in the parade this year.”
Petit said the organization accepts registration up until the week of the parade.
“We are very excited for this year as we are for every year,” she said. “The parade is a beloved tradition, and the parade committee is always honored to be able to keep it going.”
