Krewe of G-OLD Times plan 2023 Mardi Gras dance

Laissez les bon temps rouler! All St. Charles Parish senior citizens are invited to attend the annual Krewe of G-OLD Times’ Mardi Gras dance.

April Keller, the executive director of the St. Charles Council on Aging, said the dance is co-sponsored by the parish’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, St. Charles Council on Aging, and St. Charles Department of Parks & Recreations.

“It brings our seniors out of their homes and gives them something to do,” she said. “That way they can meet with their friends and have a good time.”

The dance will be held on Feb. 16 until 2 p.m. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., and the event will be held at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center, located at 274 Judge Dufresne Parkway in Luling.

For the first time ever, a live band instead of a DJ will provide music for the dance. Ryan Foret & Foret Tradition will take the stage, and Keller said the hope is that the lure of a live band brings more people out to the event this year.

As in other years, the event will feature a drawing for this year’s king and queen.

“Everyone who comes get a ticket, and we pull for the king and queen,” Keller said. “They’re king and queen for the day, and everyone who comes really enjoys it.”

Lunch will also be served at the event.

Anyone interested in attending the dance should call 985-331-9701 or 985-783-8907 and RSVP by Feb. 10. To schedule transportation, call 985-783-6683.
