Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day returns April 22

Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day will return to St. Charles Parish later this month after a three-year absence.

The collection will be held April 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the West Bank Bridge Park. Pelican Pointe Car Wash will donate one platinum wash to the first 100 vehicles and one to each volunteer.

Residents are invited to drop off, dispose and recycle materials like oil-based paints, cleaning products, scrap metal, solvents, tires (limit five per vehicle, one delivery only), automotive batteries, used oil, antifreeze, household cleaning products, aerosol cans, acids/base, fluorescent tubes, tars, resins, adhesives, pesticides, herbicides, scrap metal, major appliances, and used electronics.

The following items will not be accepted – explosives, ammunition, unidentifiable materials, infectious medical waste, compressed gas cylinders, propane tanks, asbestos, radioactive wastes like smoke alarms, high school lab wastes, and commercial/governmental facility waste.

Latex paint, paper, cardboard, aluminum cans, plastic, construction debris, and glass will also not be accepted.

Residents are reminded that this event is designed for collection and disposal of residential hazardous waste. Please do not bring waste from commercial or governmental facilities.
