St. Charles Parish is under a tornado warning until 9 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm capable of produce a tornado was located near Killona or near Hahnville moving northwest at 40 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
The storm has 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Roof damage to vehicles is expected, as well as damage to roofs, siding and trees.
Local areas of impact include Hahnville, Destrehan, Killona, Norco, New Sarpy, Montz, Paradis, Boutte, St. Rose, Luling and Des Allemands.
Residents are advised to take shelter immediately.
