Luling man charged with attempted murder
A Luling man is in prison after being accused of shooting another man twice, leaving him wounded.
Juan Parnell, 32, of 604 Paul Frederick St. in Luling, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after being arrested March 8, a day after a warrant was issued.
According to St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Pat Yoes, Parnell got into a verbal altercation with a man leaving Birdie’s Food and Fuel in Luling, and that incident quickly escalating into violence.
“The victim exited the store and (Parnell) spotted him and began to badger him,” Yoes said. “The victim then began walking out of the store toward Paul Frederick Street. At that point the suspect fired his weapon at him.”
Parnell allegedly shot the victim in his right abdomen and left arm. The victim was treated for his injuries at St. Charles Hospital. Parnell also had four attachments from the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office.
He is being held at Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility on a bond of $110,000.
