Sheriff’s Office investigating suspected hit-and-run on I-10

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death in an apparent hit-and-run involving a bullet-riddled car.

Deputies responded to what was thought to be a single-vehicle accident at 3:23 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 10 west bound between Mile Markers 217 and 219.

Once first responders arrived on the scene, it was discovered the crashed vehicle, a 2006 silver Chrysler Sebring, had what appeared to be numerous bullet holes, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

A deceased male subject, not yet identified by the Sheriff’s Office, was located inside the vehicle. Other occupants in the vehicle were transferred to a local area hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
