Sheriff’s Office investigating Destrehan auto burglaries

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating several vehicle break-ins that occurred in Destrehan on Monday morning.

Just after 6:30 a.m., the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of several vehicle break-ins in the 100 block of Parlange Drive. Detectives learned that a suspect appearing to be a black male subject wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, ripped blue jeans, slipper-style shoes and wearing a backward hat, exited a light-colored Volkswagen Beetle with a dark-colored convertible top and entered several unsecured vehicles.

While police investigated those cases, another group of vehicle break-ins were reported in the 100 block of Dunleith Drive.

The Sheriff’s Office urges citizens to remember to remove valuables, electronics, jewelry, and firearms from vehicles each night, and advises setting a reminder to go out and make sure all vehicles are secured.

Citizens in the area with home surveillance or Ring camera systems are asked to review their video footage and to contact Det. Kevin Tennison of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 783-6807 or (985) 783-1135 if there is any information about these incidents to share.
