Firmly set on offering quality over quantity, the Sears Hometown Store in Luling excels in innovation, name brands and expertise.“We’re getting ready for Christmas,” store owner Kathy Witmer said of inviting customers to stop by and see what’s new in appliances for laundry, cooking and refrigeration.
Topping the gift list of nearly every customer is service.
Witmer and her staff are all AAE (America’s Appliance Experts) certified as part of the Sears Hometown national effort to ensure store associates have industry leading comprehensive training, including brand specific selling certification.
These brand certified sales associates help ensure customers find the best products for their needs at the best possible price, she said.
“An expert helps the knowledgeable consumer make some great selections on their appliance because we may be able to demonstrate new features in refrigeration that they may not know about,” Witmer said.
An example is the door within a door feature that provides access to drinks without having to open the entire refrigerator, she said.
They can also show some of the new looks in dishwashers, as well as show how much quieter they are now, she said.
Customers also want higher capacity washers and dryers, which are available to free them from waiting on laundry.
Sears’ new leasing program can help make them available in an innovative way, she said.
“It’s for customers who like leasing or want a different financing option,” Witmer said. “That’s what is great about the leasing program, it’s an underserved market we can help out.”
Customers can lease new appliances at retail rates and even have an early buyout option.
“It’s really a nice choice for people where a Sears card may not be an option,” Witmer said.
Located in the St. Charles Plaza in the old Delchamps building, the retail store features tops leading brands of appliances including Kenmore, and also carries Craftsman tools, lawn care equipment and Sealy mattresses.
The store, which opened in January of 2012, is among 1,160 stores of its kind in the United States. Sears Hometown Stores is a national retailer focused on selling home appliances, lawn and garden equipment, tools and hardware.
Witmer said she and her staff have sought to set themselves apart from the competition by offering quality over quantity. Additionally, Sears aims to cultivate confidence in its customer base with solid protection agreements.
“Our philosophy is to provide excellent customer service along with high quality products and all our staff members are trained in this philosophy,” she said. “The result is that we work with our customers to ensure the products they purchase meet their needs as well as their desires.”
