Search still on for missing Destrehan man

DESTREHAN – Talented. Easy going. Open minded.

According to his family and friends, those are just some of the words that make Jace Martin special. The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office has once again requested assistance from the public to change another word that can describe him – missing.

Martin, a 30-year-old white male, was last seen on February 11 around 8 p.m.

“We’ve had a couple sightings, but none of them could actually be confirmed,” Martin’s girlfriend Elizabeth Elfer states. “Our latest one was in New Orleans and someone reached out to our detective.”

St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cpl. James Grimaldi says no foul play is suspected in the case, but police are concerned for Martin’s safety due to statements he made prior to his disappearance implying he may harm himself.

“We initially requested the public’s assistance on February 13,” Grimaldi states. “Since then, we have not had much progress in locating Jace.”

Martin is described as being approximately 5’9, 190 lbs. with a medium build, black hair, brown eyes and a fair complexion. He was last seen to be clad in gray colored pants, black shoes, black hoodie, and a black colored baseball cap.

“Jace is an amazing person,” Elfer says. “Through all of this I’ve heard some beautiful stories from Jace’s friends and family. He left such an impression on their lives that they can’t just sit around and wait for answers. They are actively helping us spread the word and search.”

If anyone has any information as to the whereabouts of Jace Martin, or has possibly seen him, they are urged to contact Detective Kevin Tennison of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985)783-1135 or call (985)783-6807.
