Schwarzenegger zombie movie films in Hahnville

A zombie movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger filmed in Hahnville last week.

In “Maggie,” Schwarzenegger plays a father whose daughter is infected by a walking-dead virus that has spread across the country. Abigail Breslin, who had the title role in “Little Miss Sunshine” and recently starred opposite Halle Berry in the thriller “The Call,” will play Schwarzenegger’s daughter, Maggie.

Production set up Friday at Homeplace Plantation in Hahnville, which was Erected in the late 1700s.

“Maggie” is just another in a long line of movies that havefilmed in St. Charles Parish in the last two years. Last year, the highly-anticipated “Twelve Years a Slave,” which stars Brad Pitt, filmed at Destrehan Plantation. Also in 2012, “The Host” shut down Spillway Road to film in Norco.

An upcoming HBO crime series starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson also filmed in the Bonnet Carre Spillway and other parts of Norco earlier this year.

The HBO series marked the second time in less than two years that McConaughey has filmed in St. Charles Parish. In August 2011, he ventured into Bayou Gauche for “The Paperboy,” which co-starred Zac Effron and Nicole Kidman.
