A 37-year-old New Orleans woman has been arrested after authorities say she used a ruse in order to gain entry into a Destrehan home and steal credit cards.
Aisha Howard, of 10301 Brooksfield Drive, was identified after the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office released pictures taken from a video surveillance camera. The pictures show Howard at a business using a credit card that was stolen from a Destrehan home, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Howard and another woman who police are still searching for knocked on an 82-year-old Destrehan woman’s door and said they were delivering medical supplies. When the elderly woman said that she did not order any supplies, the two women asked to use a telephone book inside the home to get the correct address for where they supplies needed to go, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
After looking through the phone book, the women left the home. A couple of hours later, the 82-year-old noticed that someone had used her credit card. She checked her purse and discovered that her checkbook and credit cards were missing.According to the Sheriff’s Office, purchases were made using the stolen credit cards in LaPlace, Covington and New Orleans.
