Police: St. Rose man wrestles gun from armed invader, shoots 2

Police still searching for 2 suspects

Two men were hospitalized last week when a group allegedly attempting to rob a St. Rose home was bested by the homeowner. Police say that four subjects entered a home on E. Club Drive looking for money at 11:25 p.m. The homeowner, Christopher Nunnery, 21, was able to wrestle the gun away from one of the subjects and fired shots at the intruders, according to the police report.

After fleeing the home, police say that John Jackson Jr., 19, and Kenneth Nelson, 19, were found in front of Jackson’s home at 495 Fourth St. with family members tending to their wounds.

Jackson was shot in his arm. He was treated and released from the hospital, arrested and charged with aggravated battery and armed robbery, according to the report.

Nelson, of 640 Mockingbird Lane, was also shot and remains hospitalized in the intensive care unit recovering from surgery, police said.

Police are still looking for two other subjects connected with the incident. Nunnery was later arrested during the investigation when police found Marijuana in his home, according to Capt. Pat Yoes with the Sheriff’s Office.
