The director of St. Charles Parish’s Department of Planning and Zoning has announced her resignation. Kim Marousek said she is leaving the office after accepting a job in the Baton Rouge area.
Marousek took over the department in 2008 after serving as an interim planning director in St. John Parish. She also worked as principal planner for the city of Kent, Wash. from 1997 to 2007.
St. Charles Parish President V.J. St. Pierre called Marousek’s resignation a great loss for the parish.
“When you came here, you brought this department a long way,” St. Pierre told Marousek at a recent council meeting. “You’ve got the toughest job in the parish because you are trying to tell people how to use their property.
“From the bottom of my heart I thank you and best of luck.”
Marousek’s last day is Aug. 5. Parish spokeswoman Renee Simpson said the parish intends to undertake a national search for a candidate to replace Marousek as soon as possible.
