Parish Sheriff’s Office seeking highway shooter

The St. Charles Sheriff’s Office is seeking help in identifying a suspect accused of firing a gun from his SUV at another vehicle.

According to Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Pat Yoes, the alleged victim told police a blue  Chevrolet Tahoe sped past the victim’s vehicle at an estimated 80 mph while in a 35-mph zone. Both vehicles were traveling on Barton Ave. heading toward U.S. Highway 90 in Luling.

The reported victim told police he began following the Tahoe to get a better description and take down the vehicle’s license plate number.

Both turned onto Hwy. 90, where the victim said he followed the Tahoe driver until it pulled into a McDonald’s parking lot in the highway’s 12600 block.

Then the Tahoe made a hard turn out of the parking lot and its driver allegedly fired a gun at the victim’s vehicle. “The victim pulled onto the shoulder of U.S. 90 to await the suspect’s actions,” Yoes said. “At that time, the victim heard two gun shots and found the driver’s side window of (the victim’s) vehicle shattered.”

The alleged victim was not injured in the alleged attack.

The Sheriff’s Office asks anyone who has information that could lead to the identity of the shooter to call Crime Stoppers at 1-877-903-STOP.
