Parish native charged with murder of Va. man

A Des Allemands native has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 53-year-old man in Accomack County, Va.

The body of Albert Danny Hargis, 53, was found on the morning of Aug. 19 along Hurst Store Road, at the site were he was building his new home in Parksley, Va.

Hargis had been reported missing a day earlier.

Jowarski Russell Nedd, 28, was wanted on charges of first-degree murder, use of a firearm in commission of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Nedd, who allegedly fled home after the crime, was arrested quickly by the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office in the 500 block of Maple Ave. in Boutte on Sept. 12.

Nedd was living with a friend at the time of the murder and had been working for Hargis. He is being held without bond at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center and is awaiting extradition to Accomack County.
